I am a Yemeni journalist, researcher, and human rights advocate who didn’t just study regional conflict from a distance—I lived it.
Raised in Sana'a, I carved out a career defined by a relentless drive to bridge complex Middle Eastern realities with global policy frameworks. At a time when geopolitical reporting on Yemen is frequently reduced to surface-level analysis or AI-driven summaries, I offer what an algorithm cannot: deep generational context, lived nuance, and human-centered truth.
My career spans nearly two decades of high-stakes advocacy and international diplomacy. Having served as a Program Officer at the Office of the U.N. Special Envoy for Yemen and as a lead Yemen researcher for Human Rights Watch, among other high-level roles, I translate extensive institutional knowledge into high-impact consultations, media strategy, and rigorous field research. My work addresses crucial issues and is designed to support civil society organizations and INGOs requiring deep, uncompromising regional insight.
My international recognition includes receiving the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) International Press Freedom Award and being profiled by the BBC as one of the "100 Women Who Changed the World". I also provide regular commentary and analysis on CNN, Al Jazeera English, the BBC, and NPR.
